Cupples Names New President & Vice President

Promotions announced as firm continues rapid growth in regionalized US construction markets

St. Louis, MO – April 6, 2015 – CH Holdings USA, Inc. is proud to announce the promotion of Rick Hamlin to president of Cupples, and Bill Trainor to vice president of operations. The promotions come in response to the firm’s rapid growth since reintroduction to the US marketplace in 2012.

“Rick and Bill have overseen every phase of a project: from estimating to project management and strategic planning,” says Gregg Sage, CEO of CH Holdings USA, Inc. “We couldn’t ask for a more dedicated and well-rounded group of leaders.”

Rick Hamlin first joined Cupples in 1981 in the engineering group, before moving to estimating and project management. He demonstrated early leadership and management skills, and held chief estimator and director of project management positions. In the early-2000s, Hamlin left Cupples, but continued to work in the exterior fenestration industry at companies such as Architectural Wall Systems, TRACO and Trainor Glass. In 2012 CH Holdings USA, Inc. reorganized Cupples as a domestic contractor focused on advanced facade applications in regionalized markets. Hamlin returned as the firm’s national estimating and pre-construction manager.

Bill Trainor began his career in project management at Trainor Glass Company, where he worked his way up to the firm’s regional manager position for the Rocky Mountain district. In 2012, Trainor joined Cupples as a senior project manager, and was eventually promoted to operations manager. At this position he oversaw the execution of Frost Tower in Dallas and Fort Carson 13th CAB Control Tower in Colorado. Trainor has played a pivotal role in the operations of the firm’s recent projects, including the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business, and Tilt! — a moveable glass observation deck at the John Hancock Center — in Chicago.

Since its relaunch only three years ago, Cupples has completed $60 million of contracted work, and enters 2015 with a backlog over $100 million. Hamlin attributes the firm’s rapid growth to its focus on niche markets that large contractors generally ignore, and where local contractors have limited capability.

“We have experienced significant market traction with our Cupples strategy,” says Hamlin. “The goal is to forge these early successes into a leadership position for the company.”

CH Holdings USA, Inc. is a construction-oriented holding company whose umbrella includes four leading design-build subcontracting firms: custom building facade specialists Enclos and Cupples, and specialty architectural finish and system providers EnvironInteriors and INcubed.
